Start Workflow window -- override possible ??

Hello,

When the customer clicks on a content item and then clicks on the "Start Workflow", after selecting the workflow, the final window that comes up...Is it possible to customize this form.

The "workflow name" field only allows 80 characters. The content author would like to include the description and possibly some instructions to the approver.

Any idea how to go about this ?

I think you're stuck with the 80 char name. I could be wrong.

as far as the other stuff, how about a custom JSP that would accept the data you want and then use the API to start the workflow, and put your additional data in as a note. I'm not sure how hard that would be (and, FAIK the notes API still isn't public, but I know folks use it). just a thought.

Also, if we use a custom JSP would we also have to use a custom database table ? And then in the background we should send this note via an email to the approver and start the workflow using the API.

The API for creating a workflow instanceis public. You should be able to figure that part out.
I don't know why you'd need a databasetable for this. Just accept the data that's posted from your JSP form eitherin a JSP or a servlet, and then create the workflow instance. You may haveto experiment with adding a note to it, since I'm not sure if you can dothat at creation time or not. that's also the part of the API that I thinkmight be private, though I've been told it should (and hopefully will)be corrected and marked public.
As far as an email to the approver,why not just make that part of the workflow itself? you could either allowfor task assignment to email the user, or you could put in the email programtask into the workflow. No sense coding something else that's already beenbuilt for you.
