Problem While Installing Portal 7.4 with JBoss 5.1.0

Hi,

I am new to JBoss I am trying to install Vignette Portal 7.4 on JBoss 5.1.0on windows XP but I don’t know about the field “Enter the JBoss serverconfig name” attached is the screen shot of the field.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

You should enter the config name, in JBoss there are config names "all", "default" etc.

you could enter it as "default".

Portal 7.4 supports JBoss 4.0.x and 4.2.x. JBoss 5 is being supported since Portal 8.0.

Hi,

Yes i am able to install Portal 7.4 on JBoss 4.2.1 but sill there is some problem while finish the installing.

i am not able to start it and getting the below mentioned error.

Could not find the vignette install path. **
Vignette Portal relies on the java system 'com.vignette.portal.installdir.path' property.
i.e. -Dcom.vignette.portal.installdir.path=$PORTALSERVER_DIR
Please correct the startup environment and re-try.

Please suggest me what i have to do to fix this.

This could be because of 2 reasons.

1. Installation could have failed.

Please check the install log once and attach the logs if you see any errors, else do step 2.

2. You need to start the portal server by running the bat/sh file under <jboss install dir>/bin/vapscripts/run-vap-<config-name>

The scripts created by the Portal installer (that Sujana pointed out earlier) set com.vignette.portal.installdir.path as a system property. The error message you have is pointing out that you do not have this system property set. You need to figure out why this isn't being set when using your current method of starting the app server.

Yes The system property was missing now this is fixed and portal is working fine on JBoss.
