How to Use COM dll without FileSite Installation?

Hi,

I have created custom application in .net which uses FileSite COM dlls.
Now i am able to run the application once FileSite is installed. With out FileSite installed it is not working.

It shows COM Exception.

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {ABA30C79-84F5-4C2D-96A5-7B4B79C89496} failed due to the following error: 80040154.

Is there any way so that i can run the application without installing FileSite?

You will need to have filesite installed .For a typical COM integration you are bypassing manage32.exe and connecting your applications directly through imano2k.dll .(If that what you are attempting !)

At the minimum, you should have the SDK installed, and that your custom app should be deployed with those WorkSite DLL's distributed with the SDK that you used in your app. Some of the WorkSite DLL's have dependecies, runtime resources, etc. that only come with the installation of a WorkSite Client or the SDK.

Instead, when I tried to register the IManage.dll and IManExt.dll using regsvr32, I was able to do import and delete operations. However, I could not execute offsite commands, even after registering dlls related to offsite. I got an exception saying, offsite has to be initialized.

Can I get help from any of the SDK document for this? If so can you specify the document name?

When you have successfully installed the WorkSite iToolkit SDK, it should register the imanage.dll, imanext.dll, imanext2.dll, etc. which are the WorkSite DLL's that have the COM API's you can consume in your custom app. If you end up having to manually register those DLL's, that'd work too but it's rather strange that the SDK isntallation didn't register them already.

The mobilemode.dll, and the interop.imanage.dll should be referenced in your app for you to consume the set of Interfaces that work for OffSite.

I'm not completely clear on what your application does so I cannot succinctly address your issues. In general, you would customize OffSite functionality on a client machine that has OffSite installed.

In the "iHelp/" folder under your SDK installed path, there is a "COM Object for WorkSite Developer's Reference Manual" manual that has reference info on MobileMode.dll for OffSite.
