Teamsite 6.7.1 SP1 and JVM

We are currently running Teamsite 6.5 SP3 on Windows 2003 SP1 and are looking at the upgrade to TS 6.7.1 SP1 for Windows and noticed the documentation stating JVM 1.5 is now the supported JVM to run.

My question is will TS 6.7.1 SP1 support JVM 1.4 or do I have to upgrade my clients to JVM 1.5 to use TS 6.7.1 SP1?

Which JVM are you referring to? a local instance on your own machine to run client software?

We are looking for the client version of the jvm.

TS 6.7.1 SP1 still supports JRE 1.4 on the client browser box. No need to upgrade all clients to JRE 1.5.

According to the TS 671 SP1 compatibility matrix, Sun JVM 1.5 is supported.

where is it stated that 671 supports JRE 1.4

You have to upgrade to your Client JVM to 1.5.xx to get all the functionalities of the Launchpad.

JVM 1.4 still works with 6.7.1 but most of the functionalities of Launchpad will not work as desired. Ex.. Your launchpad settings will be lost and you have to set everytime you try to edit files :-)

So upgrad to JVM 1.5 if you need all the functionalities... Hope this helps !!

The release note stated:

All client computers require a Java Runtime engine, such as Sun JVM 1.5
(downloadable from www.java.sun.com) or Microsoft JVM.

When it says it supports Microsoft JVM and Sun 1.5, it tells me that it has to support JRE 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5. Smiley Happy

Because Microsoft JVM is still in Java 1.1 spec.

It is not true that most of the functionalities does not work in Sun JRE 1.4. If any feature is not working in 1.4, we should raise bugs.

Thanks for the help. We currently have plans to upgrade to JVM 1.5 but need to wait until we have TS 6.7.1 installed for the support of the newer version of the JVM.
