In the events log file , I have an entry like
"domain\user editor Lock \branch\main\sub_branch\WORKAREA\category1\abc.jsp 0x00001877601231008083e domain\user by launching edit"

It looks like user logged in as editor and locked abc.jsp file by launching edit.
Is that right ? What does number 0x00000.......... mean ?

It is called an object id - which you can try decoding with the iwattrib CLT. Try reading the manuals.

I did go through manual.
iwattrib is used for getting IDs for many objects. Is there a specific syntax for different kind of object IDs, I mean 5 digits for one and 10 digit for other, some object having 2 in the middle ?
It doesn't say whats the use of object ID.
What will this IDs be used for ?

if you run iwattrib -l objectid - you'll get a list of the attributes associated with the particular object that the object id references.

An objectid is just that - an id for an address - any attempt to read more into it (based on length, characters within, etc.) - unless explicitly documented as having a special meaning - is pure folly.
