OpenDeploy fails when applying Extended Attributes to target

Hello all, first post.

I have created a new, simple deployment that is set up to transfer flies within a datastore between two teamsite servers.

If I choose not to "Record Extended Attributes", the deployment works successfully.

However, if I choose to "Record Extended Attributes", the deployment fails.

The manual mentions issues related to the an alternate location for temporary deployed files on the receiving server, but is very light on details.

If anyone can enlighten me as to why my deployment fails as a result of choosing the extended attributes, and what I can do to overcome this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Would be nice to know what is your OD and TS Version, Platforms and SP Level. Also, do you have OD Base/ OD Receiver
Version discrepancy? What is the exact Deployment Error Message?

Source Server:
Win 2K3 SP2
TeamSite 6.7.1.0
OpenDeploy 6.2 Base

Target Server:
Win 2K3 SP2
TeamSite 6.7.1.0
OpenDeploy 6.2 receiver??

Note, OpenDeploy was installed prior to my arrival, and my expectation was (and is) that OD base 6.2 should be installed here.

With respect to the errors generated in the logs,
the macro log states "Completed with errors" and I noted in the log that:

ENG: 2008-08-08 08:47:40 EDT GMT-04:00 No of children = 1, failed =
1(all)

The Micro log simply says "failed" and I noted:

'dont_do' specifed -- ** DATA WAS NOT DEPLOYED **

Hope this helps.

You need to get on the receiver and see what Rev of OD is installed and also get the logs from the receiver, those will have much more information than the sender logs.

Check your Deployment Configuration, <transferRules> Tag. Have you set dontDo="yes" there? If you have, Files are not actually
deployed. In "dontDo" Mode OD creates missing target Directories and executes DNRs, that's all.

If you deploying content from / to a backing store - you do not want to "record extended attributes". The only time you would want that feature enabled is if you were deploying content from some area on a branch (workarea, staging area, edition) to a workarea on another branch (same server or different server).

Ghoti: I am deploying content from a branch workarea, on one server to a workarea on a different server.

ISCBorisB: I checked the Tag. Initially nothing was set . I then explicitly set dontDo="no" there? This made no difference to the generated errors.

Nipper: Thanks for this. I reviewed the OD log on the receiving server. I can confirm that the version of OD is 6.2. I've copied the portion of the log that displays an error. It has been copied below for your review and insight:

Check ODHOME/etc/deploy.cfg. In there, do you have commented out line similar to teamsite.version: 6.7.1?
If you do, un-comment it. If you do not, create one. Restart OD Base Service and try again.

That's it!!

The text existed on the base server, but not on the receiver. Once I added it, and restarted the service, the deployment went without a hitch.

I'll be installing all future versions of OD here... this will be something I'll be sure to verify.
