Content center "Search" not working

Hi All,

When I am trying to use "Search" in content center it is throwing me an exception as follows:-

Is your search service and index service running? It sounds like one of those services is not running. Also would help if you tell us your platform and TS version with any service packs/patches.

How can I do that?? I have no clue about these services.Where can I read about them.

My Teamsite's version is 6.7.1 running on Solaris.

take a look at the teamsite admin manual .. Configuring Interwoven Search section page 155

most likely that ur index server is not up .. make sure u start it and do look at iw.tsindex.log file to see if it is up or not.

your index service seems like it is not running. the index service can fail for many reasons, are you running your search on some database engine?

one error implies you have no branches defined for indexing (or maybe a blank line would do this). Check $search_home/etc/branches.cfg

On Solaris, you should be able to run the ps -ef command and do a grep for iw. for Windows, you can run services.msc (Windows key + R), then it should bring up the run dialog box.

But I agree with nipper. From the log, it looks like you don't have any branches defined to do the indexing.

But I see branches in my branches.cfg file.

Ok, lets try the following. Forget search for the time being and fix index service first. Clear search and index log. Configure Eventsubsystem and make sure specifically ESS is capturing submit event (messages table should get updated when a file is submitted). Check index collection directory is writable. Start index service and check logs to verify if indexer started ok?

Once index server starts, then start search, then verify branches.cfg
