Opendeploy receiver error

When I try to reset the Opendeploy receiver server I get the following error:

C:\Interwoven\OpenDeployNG\bin>iwodserverreset
OpenDeploy server host: localhost, RMI registry port: 9173
***ERROR - Agent exception.
Action: RELOAD_SVR_CONFIG
Reason: SERVER_CONFIG_FILE

What's the possible reason for this error.

I tried to stop and start the service but once the service is stopped it won't start.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall but it won't let me uninstall. Error was "Setup failed to launch installation engine. Access is denied."
The od.log file was giving the following error:
ERROR - Parser error: Stopping after fatal error: The string "--" is not permitted within comments.

Appreciate your response.

Please attatch/paste your receiver config file(s). What version of OD are you using ? Solaris / W2K ?

ERROR - Parser error: Stopping after fatal error: The string "--" is not permitted within comments.

This is a legitimate error message - XML does not allow for the string '--' to appear within an XML-style comment:
< !-- comment text cannot include two '-'s together -->

If you insert spaces between them '- -' or use some other character (=, +, etc.) you should be okay.

You may have to wait a second or two after stopping the service before starting it.

You will have to wait a second or two after starting the service before being able to perform a deployment (I use the OOTB test deployment from the command line a couple of times to verify that the service is up and fully functional when I restart the service on my machine)
