Metadata Capture in 6.7.1 SP1 - Multiple vs Single file
gzevin
I am just profoundly confused and angry. Again.
IWOV has (FINALLY!!!) released a new single file metadata capture interface that conforms formAPI for DCTs. Ok, that's good. The multiple file interface has not changed as yet (it's coming, I know).
Now - the tricky part - if one has had CGI callouts, they won't work in single file interface screen (because they now use the same Javascript as templating callouts). HOWEVER, these new callouts WON'T work with multiple file capture screen.
Very bad PR from Iwov again, I think you guys should have simply waited till everything was ready and released it in one go. One CANNOT release half-baked products like this. Or bonuses were so good one had to release the interface anyway?
I was the one who provided most complicated datacapture templates to IWOV and I did donate my time to work with the designers to provide my opinion on the new interface. And yet I am frustrated to see how it all came out.

Greg,
There is a way to honor the CGI callouts from the old TagUI.. This was documented in the Release Notes for TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1 (pages 6-7) and I am including the steps below..
If you are using
in your original Tagger GUI datacapture.cfg and you are experiencing errors in your cgi callout, you may need to use this bridge and revert to passing the old cgi environment variables to your callout.
This can be accomplished by setting the following parameter in your application_custom.xml in two places, under both the ccpro and ccstd sections:
[HTML]

Sunil,
thanks for the speedy answer. Yes, I do acknowledge that there is a way to migrate the code. And, in a way, I do apreciate that you guys have created more consulting hours for me
. However, as you know, migration to 6.7.1 (and SP1 especially) is not a so simple process, as we do regression testing on everything, esentially.
However, I would be really interested in knowing as to when 6.7.2 will be coming. The reason is that there are too many callouts, and my timing might prevent me from recoding CGIs right now. So I need to assess whether I can manage client's expectations and simply hold off from changing till 6.7.2 is released, by making users deal with single file capture screen if they want to use callouts.
