Getting Hierarchy of channels and corresponding contents based on content type.

Hi,

 

 I am trying to get all the content based on content type from the provided channel and all the sub channels (recursively).

 

As of now I am getting it recursively going into each sub channels and so on, this technique is so slow and takes quite some time.

 

Is there any alternate way to perform this task?
