Using workflow to manager processes w/design

Hello.
At my company, we're thinking about using TeamSite workflows
to mitigate the process of working w/our design, presentation and interaction teams whenever creating a new piece of functionality.
Currently, outlook, and some shared document servers serve as the vehicle
but there's been a search for something more integrated and organized
The design team has already started using Adobe CS3 for their own development cyclees.
But for production cycles we're looking to have people send files, approve, and view through Teamsite workflow.
What are the pitfalls or pros/cons you can see w/this?
Primarily workflow was used between the content team and business content users.
Now integrating design, presentation and interaction is a new step.
Would appreciate your thoughts.
