IE8 "new session" and collab authentication

Anyone noticed with IE 8, opening a new tab creates a new session, whereby you have to log in again in the new tab?  I have read up that this is intentional from IE8 development team, but it's rather frustrating in collaboration.  I'm curious if there is a setting or some kind of workaround for this?

You can try setting the Collaboration siteto open in compatibility mode per KB 17726331.
