Multiple Portal installs with one VCM

Has anyone installed multiple instances of Portal and pointed them at the same VCM? By multiple instances I don't mean (for example):

site A served from portal cluster 1

site B served from portal cluster 2

site A and B managed on the same VCM server

I'm looking for best practice or other architecture documentation on the KC but having difficulty finding anything. Any help is appreciated.

You listed what you don't want to do. What is it that you want to do?

I have a VCM with 2 sites delivering to a clustered environment of 2 servers.

That is:

Site A and B maintained by VCM.
Site A and B delivery stage on server 1
Site A and B delivery stage on server 2

Servers 1 and 2 are in a cluster.

ok .. that makes sense.

I would suggest that you open a ticket with OpenText (formerly known as VOLSS).

I'm sure that there are multiple ways to do this.
I'd have to think this through, but off the top of my head, you would create a new production stage and point one of the sites to the new stage and have that stage delivered by a separate portal.

Or... it could be done through the application server and webserver domain names pointing to separate content paths.

Of course you would need to plan out your environment choice based on performance.
