HELP with VCM 8 sp1 crash

Hi,

We are experiencing VCM_SYSTEM connections which grow continuously until around 115 or so before the VCMServer system goes down. Rebooting the server brings everything back up with around 25 VCM_SYSTEM connections. After a week or so of growing connections system goes down again.

No code change was performed between upgrading from 7.5 to 8.0.1 and we had no issues in 7.5

Logs and thread dumps did not point to anything. We were instructed by OpenText to capture heap dumps now which we will do going forward.

Any advice or suggestions are welcome.

You can also enable Connection Leak and Connection usage profiling in weblogic for troubleshooting this issue further.

<![if !supportLists]>1) <![endif]>only 1 server we do now have clustering on the VCM server

<![if !supportLists]>2) <![endif]>We have set max connection pooling to 100. It was initially 30 which we increased to 60 and then 100.

<![if !supportLists]>3) <![endif]>vignette.jdbc.VgnNonTxDataSource is where the issue occurs and the number of active connections were 5.

Did you try to tune the advanced connection pool settings and monitor the number of active connections and idle connections during the week?

This might be WebLogic issue, not releasing inactive connections back to the pool.

Yes we have been tuning the connection pool settings but prior to upgrading to 8.0 we were tuned with settings that were working very well for us. We have since then increased the connection pool without any resolve to the issue. I just enabled the monitoring but don’t see anything in the archives yet.
