Performance issue while using <templating initComponent>

Hi,

We are using the below tag across all the pages in our siteand we are currently facing a huge performance issue.

<%@ tagliburi="/WEB-INF/vgnExtTemplating.tld" prefix="templating"%>

<templating:initComponentxml="xml"/>

It appears according to our calculation that it takes approx20 secs in our development environment, which appears very high.

Can anyone let us know is this expected behavior or we aremissing something here?

Thanks in advance in letting us know any thoughts on how toimprove this performance bottleneck.

Arumugam,

Are you using Smart List componet? Do you have any Idea of how many content items will be returned by your query?

In the end the amount of time it will takes to create XML will depend on over all size of component object tree bigger the tree more time it will take.

We are using Channel Navigation Component and an approx 40 Channels will be returned and the approx tree depth of channel is 4 level.

I would suggest you dump the xml to log file or directly on html page to see size of xml generated.

This should give you rough idea of how much work is going on behind the scene.

But 20 seconds for channel nav component [given total number of channels is 40] looks to be on higher side than I would expect.
