Web CMS (TeamSite)
forcing editing thru datacapture
Ottawa_IWOV
Is there any way to configure TeamSite to force users to edit their content through datacapture templates? Also, con you configure the "View FIle" button in Web Desk Pro for authors?
Platform
TS 5.5.2 - W2K
Thanks.

If the files are indeed generated from TeamSite Templating - and have the requisite extended attributes associated with them, then the default action when choosing to Edit the file will be to bring up the Edit DCR window - and choosing View will bring up the same window in "read-only" mode.
There is, however, nothing preventing users from using the Edit > Edit With... functionality or going through the file system interface (if available from their client workstations) and using some other tool to edit the raw data.
Does that answer your questions? If not, perhaps you can provide a more detailed use-case scenario.

I figured that was the case, because I ran through a bunch of scenarios. Is there a way to force authors in the Web Desk interface, or do they always have the option of going through Web Desk Pro?
Thanks.

I don't believe that there is a supported way to do this in the current version of TeamSite. I'm not sure if there is an *un*supported way, perhaps someone else can comment on that.
The only currently "supported" way is *training* - train the users to check the box for WebDesk when they login.
You might want to contact Interwoven Support and request they add your company (or your client's company if you are a consultant [or both]) as being interested in Feature Request #20936 which has been filed for this functionality.
