inline and callout

When I want to use callout, do I have to use it through inline only ?
I mean, I write a "getData" file and put it in the iw-home/iw-perl/bin/getData path. Now, in the DCt, I can call this file in inline tag
and the file will be loaded, right ?
If correct, where does callout come in picture ? I am trying to read through manul, but cant find answer.

Perhaps you should look into some formal training in addition to reading the manuals?
Also - try searching the forums - because the distinction between inline, callout, and callServer has been posted numerous times - and I'm pretty sure within the last couple of months (perhaps even weeks).

I'd recommend searching in the FormsPublisher forum though - as that's a more appropriate forum for this subject matter.
