Assets have dates before 1970

Hi,
Is there a way to store dates before 03/01/1970 01:00:00 in MediaBin as datetime fields? If I try to change such a field to something before, I get an error.

We need to store old historical images in MediaBin, and they have dates which go as far back as 1920.

There currently is no built-in support for metadata date-only fields. If you are just interested in a year, you can use a custom numeric metadata field.

please note that recent versions of MediaBin have a datatype "year" designed for dates before 1/1/1970 although obviously it is only precise to the year (actually designed for museums).
