Timeout in wft

I 'm attempting to add atimeout to a group task in a wft and need some assistance. I have the following task defined (see attached):

The workflow kicks out with an error saying that the timeout element is an unknown element. I've dug through all the doc I can find and I do see the timeout element described, but have not been able to find any examples of it's use.....I would like some help in resolving this.

I always have my timeout before the activation. From the docs, it *implies* that the timeout should be after the sharedby attribute.

I may have just answered this all on my own - I placed the timeout element inside my successors tag and it ran without errors - please let me know if that is the solution or if there is a better way - I know I can do this easily with workflow modeler, but that is not an option in our environment just yet.....

I tried placing the timeout tag just before the shared by and it kicks out with an error saying it can't find the sharedby element.......I'm going to try a test with putting the timeout inside the successors element and see how it works - it doesn't kick out with erros...

It *should not* be in the successors element, try AFTER not before the sharedby element.

When placing the timeout element as the last element (after sharedby and activation elements) I receive an error which states "ERROR: Unrecognized element timeout in task Approver" - I also placed it after sharedby and before activation, but received another error.

Any other ideas about what I'm doing wrong??

What error did you get when it was between sharedby and activation ?

If you received something like inconsistent activation, you need to change the GroupEmailNotification step to allow activation from Approver

I receive the following:

ERROR: Predecessors and activation inconsistent GroupEmailNotification

I tried to fix by adding Approver to the actigvation element , but receive an error indicating I have extra elements after activation expression in GroupEmailNotification - can I not have multiple pred elements defined inside an activation element??

So timeout between sharedby and activation is the correct spot.

your activation for the mail task should be something like
