There is a JSON module available from CPAN which parses converts JSON to/from perl data structures.
I use it myself, very useful.

Most likely you will need JSON:
P (PurePerl), unless you wanna start compiling XS perl modules.
On unix it's more or less fine, nn Windows - not so much

P is part of the JSON package.....
JSON::XS is a separatae distribution.
