Setting up preview

I aplogize in advance if this is a bit too newbie......I'm trying to set up our environment (TS 6.7.1) to allow the user to utilize the preview functionality. I've set up the preview template in templating.cfg, the dialog box comes up to allow the user to choose the preview template (I also have a presentation template that creates an xml file that is deployed). When I choose the preview template, I get an error that states that a connection to my server can't be established.......

Can someone point me to the correct doc that would "fully" describe what all needs to be set up in order for preview to function properly?

There is really not much to it.

1st question is what are you previewing ? HTML ? ASP ? JSP ?

Can you click on a file in TS and it previews correctly ?

Previewing html.....

The file in TS won't preview - I receive a 404 error indicating that a connection to my server can't be established...

Here is the error I am receiving when I attempt a preview:

Connection Failed
iwproxy was unable to open a connection to: f1xxxxx.rb.win.frb.org:81
Reason: No error.

f1xxxxx actually contains my server name......name has been changed to protect the innocent......

So I assume that means nothing is previewing correctly.

Is anything running on port 81 ?

What OS are you using ? What webserver ?

As part of the install process TS will *typically* configure the webserver, moving it from port 80 to 81. Did you say yes to that ? If you are using apache did you point it to the correct spot ? Is you webserver running ? Do you have a webserver at all ? Inquiring minds want to know.

Webserver was stopped for some reason - but now I get a "404 - Page cannot be found" error. Is this a config issue where we need to point TeamSIte to the correct location for preview?

Typically this is out of the box, that is why I asked about what you are displaying. flat HTML should need no config changes (OK, server side includes). ASP/JSP are different.

I receive the same error when going directly to http://f1xxxxx.rb.win.frb.org:81/iw-mount/default/main/ - 404 - Page cannot be found......

Could this be an issue with port 81?? I changed the 81 in the url to 80 and it gave me a login screen - I logged in and received a blank screen -

What login screen ? TeamSite ? You should get that. If you are seeing something else then there is a problem.

What webserver are you using ? Check the setting for that as it needs to be on port 81 not port 80

My configuration is as follows:

Webserver is running on port 81

Teamsite is configured as port 443 -

When I attempt to access - http://f122w20.rb.win.frb.org:81/iw-mount/default/main/ (as suggested eralier) I receive a "Page cannot be found" error message.

Any thoughts???is there some config setting I haven't tun into yet that might need to be modified?

Check you IIS settings and see if the iw-mount virtual directory is there (and points to Y Smiley Happy

You should be able to browse to default and below in IIS

However, it works if I remove "default" from the url string.........I get the directory for the teamsite server......also, if I remove "default" from the url string that the preview button attempts to access, I get my preview screen - so.....what controls how that url is built.....is this a config setting somewhere??

This is getting more bizzare. Check your IIS settings. What is the local path for the iw-mount virtual directory ? It should be Y:\

What do you mean you get the directory of the TS server ? Does it show main & then you can traverse to the branches ?

Appears that this issue was caused in some way by our update to TS 6.7.1 - the IIS setting was mapped to the default - we modified that IIS setting to not include default and everything now works properly.
