How to prevent the growing size of JOBHISTORYLOG table

Hi,

Env: MediaBin 4.5.2 Build 14

Is there any way to prevent the growing size of JOBHISTORYLOG table size? Any administration ways to take a backup of very old records and delete it?

Currently we are having 3042839 records on that JOBHISTORYLOG table.

Any suggestions would be great.

Hi John,

To my knowledge there is no reason other than administration to keep the JobHistoryLog contents.

When in the MediaBin Enterprise Manager (MEM), you can right click on the JobHistoryLog node in the treeview and set how many days you want to keep the JobHistoryLog contents. We keep ours 90 days for the logs.

On a side note, we use our JobHistoryLog to look at auditing of errors, user activity, etc.. So, we actually have made a trigger that copies a record from JobHistoryLog into a separate table where we index, aggregate, and generate reports from that instead.

We have set the properties only for 30 days, but still its growing and now we have datas for the past 2 years, more than 3000K records. Any idea?

Will it harm MB if we manually delete the records from DB?

There was an issue with the MEM-MB Server interface with setting Number of Days to 30. Try changing it to something else. After midnight you will see the log truncated to the corrected value.

I do not know any negative ramifications of manually deleting from the JobHistoryLog table. Just to be safe, you might want to wait for someone from iwov dev to chime in or make a simple support request for information.
