new to teamSite, need basic concepts cleared

When we generate DCR in Teamsite, does it generate an HTML page ? Do we deploy this DCR on the production server ? If this is non HTML content, how can user's browser interpret it ?

I am learning TeamSite and confused with some fundamentals.

Hi,
There are couple of things here. I suggest you to read docs.
For heads up here is a bit over view:
There are three things here:
DCT - A template from which we create a dcr. It is just a form.
DCR: It is a content of a website or some kind of record.
TPL: presentation template. this files contains all your presentation tags (e.g html tags) and mapping to your content(i.e dcr). Now using this you can create your htmls.
So it is not like when u generate a dcr, automatically a html page is created; you need to have a tpl file for that.
And regarding deploying things, it depends upon your requirements.
Usually we deploy htmls generated from those dcrs.
While for those non html dcrs...we can do data deploy i.e. all its content are deployed to some databse...And than your jsps (or something similar to that) access this database for getting values.

When you want to interate html pages then you need do write DCR(for couple of html pages you will get one DCR) Its combination of perl and HTML....when you integrate html files it will generate an DCT files... to privew DCT you need DCR......

For these you refer FORMAPI document you wil get an idea on DCT & DCR

So this HTML page generated for this DCR is the final output ready for deployment ? When we generate HTML page where will it be stored as HTML page and how to access this HTML page for deployment ?

How can you include 2 TPLs in one TPL ? say header and footer are developed by 2 different developers . Each one is using different TPL and final display shows header and footer in one page. How can you do this ? I saw similar question here somewhere.

I was reading document and I came across this info that PDF files, MS
Office files, video files are digital assets file. So what comes under the category of data, records, collaboration and web content ? The data thet we create through will be in the category of web content, I guess.

I'd strongly recommend that you get some training if you are going to be doing any kind of development within TeamSite / FormsPublisher.

There are numerous ways that you can include multiple PTs (or TPLs depending on your preference for nomenclature) to process a DCR and generate one or more output files - the "standard" mechanism is to use iw_include tags.

Nikunj's post is, IMO, a bit more accurate and clearer than Divya_Chaparala's:

For your question regarding header footer....
U can create two separate dcts for that and generate separate htmls ...Which you can include in your main html...
So it actually completely depends upon your requirement and design...
