Regarding Custom Menu Item

Hi All,
I am using TS 652. Is there a way to restrict the custom menu item visibility for some users only, not for roles? Or the other way, is it possible to define a custom role in roles_custom.xml? I tried this but it didnt work.
Any pointers would be of great help.

In short: No and no.
Custom menu items are only able to be restricted by role - not user, not group, just role.
Custom roles don't exist until you upgrade to 6.7.1 (or newer)
