Channel descriptor in V8 /Content view

HI,

We have Channel Descriptor in V7.5, this CTD has relations, so as we have realtions this is not possible in V8 with OTM.

After Upgrading to V8.0.2 i was able to see Channel MeataData from /AppConsole but not from /Content.

Actually in V7.5 we have separate property sheet "ChannelMetaData" in that sheet we are displaying CMD CTD.

But in case of V8 /Content by default the property sheet "ChannelMetaData" is not available, i was able to add new Tab "ChannelMeataData" in V8/Content, but i was unable to get the CMD instance and diaply.

does any one has sample to implement this, i couldn't find any documentation also.

i was able to ad new tab "ChannelMetaData" using sample extensions.

I deployed the V8 extensions, with some chnages, the changes are as follows

the cinfig xmls default package is com\vignette\ui\config\application, with this package structe the config xmls are not picking,

i chnaged the package to vignette\customer, now the configs are picking and i am able to see the Sample Channel Descriptor tab on Channel Editor.

is there any document to mdify desciptor.js? this is new in V8, so taking more time to understand.

If you look at the sample CTD (under /vgnextconsole), the description of the CTD has a sample property sheet. Have a look at the description and you should be able to work through it. Also, ensure that your type class is same as the sample.

HI Bertrand,

Finnaly i got my custom Channel descriptor on Channel editor in content workspaces.

I am able to get the existing data, but when i try to save the object i am getting folwing exception

DescriptorFilter : postSave method Exception 03/23/2011 02:21:45:266, Error 13 (MOCommitError), Message 026-012-0015: Attempted to commit a ManagedObject proxy that is marked readonly.

But iam able to save the object from /AppConsole, i am getting this error in /content

any idea?

Currently my environment is V8.0.1(Upgraded from 7.5.3), we have Channel Meta data (OTM Descriptor)

in 7.5.3, Initially i was not getting the Chennal Meta data tab in content workspaces, after deploying V8 extensions Channel Meta Data Tab was coming. But to get the existing data i modified the DecriptorEditor and DesciptorLogic, DesciptorFilter classes to load and save the my custom desciprtor.

The way my Channel Descriptor working in V7.5.3 is different form the default descriptor.

we are using Channel ID to save and retrive the Channel Meata Data, i deployed the V8 extensions as is, because of my customization default code is not giving the Object, i have lot of existing data. So i modidfed the follwoing

//ci = (ContentInstance)DescriptorUtils.findDescriptorByDescribedId(keyAttrName, describedId, ct, RequestParameters.getImmutableInstanceFullRelation());
ci = DescriptorUtility.getChannelMetaData(describedId);
After this my existing data is coming, but not saving.

So you mean that you have descriptor instance whose pk is the channelId (channel.getId().getId()) instead of the channel content management id (channel.getContentManagementId().getId()) ?I can't understand why you did such a thing.Anyway, what happens here is that in your method DescriptorUtility.getChannelMetaData(describedId); you are probably loading the CI with RequestParemeters as topRelationOnly and therefore at the moment of commit the system is complaining.In any case, descriptor classes are part of the product and they are not meant to be modified. Moreover, if we find that something doesn't work we change the code, so if there is an error you must merge our changes in your customization and you lose the change of getting support from customer care.
