MediaBin 4.6.1 Web Client: Error creating web application

Hi there,

just installing MediaBin 4.6.1 on a Windows Server 2003; .Net 2.0 is on it already, the IIS is clean, both the 1.1 and 2.0 Web Service Extensions enabled.
But in step 2 of 2 of the Web Client installation I get the error message

"ERROR: Creating the web application failed."

Nothing more to find in the logs besides "IIS Page messagebox: ERROR: Creating the web application failed."
There were things happening already though: "MediaBin" is created in the "Default Web Site", but empty. The "MediaBin Web Client" folder contains lots of ASPs and folders already, but the installer stops at the above error messages.
Might anyone know what could be going here? It looks to me it must a problem on the IIS side, but I already restored to the initial IIS installation state...

What id are you using to do the installation? Is it the local "administrator" account on that box or is it a domain id or something that is in the administrators group on that box? I would try using the actual administrator account if that is not the case.
