Workflow scenarios

For our business situation we need a simple workflow in which after the author submits his work(submit event) it goes to the editor for approval. It also has option whether or not to send email notification to the editor. Once the editor reviews the work and approves it, it will be submitted.
I went through some of the existing workflows but I was not able to find one that provides this functionality.
Appreciate your response in this regard.
Thanks

A simple modification of the author_submit.wft workflow that is delivered with TeamSite will do the trick. Based on your question, I assume you have no experience or training in TeamSite workflow. You might want to go through the tutorial at least, to get your feet wet.

Perhaps the problem you are confronting is part about the "
option
whether or not to send email notification." If by this you mean that the author can select whether or not to send the email notification, I can offer you a few suggestions:
1. Use the configurable author submit workflow (in 5.5.2) which includes this option.
2. Modify the author submit workflow to conditionally include an email task (this is a little tricky to do).
3. Have two possible transitions (successorsets) from the author work task; one directly to review, the other to email then review.
4. Have the WFT set a task variable on the email task, and create a conditional email task that looks for that variable.
