I success fully restored the MB 4.5.3 to a New Server and upgraded that server to

4.6.1 Every thing is working fine after resolving many challenges .

Thanks for the support from DevNet

I changed the server name from the Enterprise manger .

But when I checked the New Server from Enterprise manger and MediaBin Windows client.

I realized that , the name of the server is still the old one.

I double checked the DB and MBDataDirectory are pointing the new one

How to change the Server Name?

The only way I think you can change that is in the MBSettings table of the DB.

I tried with changing the Server Name from MBsetting table and also form the Reg files.
, this case , I could not log into the MB server . MB error message

“Server ID could not match “,

some time it shows some different errors

You should not be changing server id. You should change the value similar to "MediaBin Server on Server Name". Open a support case and they will be able to help you out.

Migrateduser

The server name is a setting which can be changed by the MediaBin Enterprise Manager application. Because you moved the database to another machine, other parameters may not be set correctly. Generally, it is highly inadvisable to edit the database tables directly.

I agree with Bith , same time I will do try for srinivas’s idea

The MediaBin Server name in the above scenario (MediaBin Server on DCBLD24MD ) has
been changed using the Enterprise Manager (refer the above picture)

But the name MediaBin Enterprise Manger ( Media Bin Server on SSS66SSL) should change
to MediaBin Enterprise Manger ( Media Bin Server on DCBLD24MD )

Customer using two servers both the old and new … The users are login using
MB client get confused with server names .We have to find an option to replace it.

Just sharing some MB experience

The MB migration tool provided by interwoven ( SQL 2K Ser to SQL 2K5
Cluster Server ) end up with so may errors. Customer DBA’s written custom script
to move the tables etc..

Customer DBA’s helped on my previous MB installation too

Here the Mediabin on Windows Server and Oracle on Solaris .MB installation does
not support this .Here the DBA’s written custom script and moved the tables etc..

All the above situations
we cannot install the application without modifying / changing the table ?

We can make working all the above scenarios ,
But the customer don’t like only one thing “ kernel level installation of Black Ice ?:rolleyes:

I am not sure what migration tool you are talking about here. Can you please clarify? I have done this previously and did not require any migration tool.

The above is certainly not true. You can have the Oracle DB on Solaris/Linux.

I am confused with what you are saying. Were you on SQL Server and you moved to Oracle?

I am not sure what migration tool you are talking about here. Can you please clarify? I have done this previously and did not require any migration tool.

My bad , not the migration but the MBRestoer execution end up with many errors
if you already have a MB database , while fresh installation , the system will not allow to use that..
if you already have a dummy table and if you try to copy the MB databse from one sever to the
new one ,you have to fix primary key / foreign key violations ..
so the DBA should write some script to fix it,

The above case , I was explaining my another experience

MediaBin 4.5 does not support Oracle but MediaBin 4.5 (Sp2) support Oracle .
Special download from support for specific customer
This requires manually run the db scripts to crate the tables before
MB installation starts Also you should crate script to connect the MB server and
Oracle running on Solaris .. Good thing , got direct help from Engineering team
