TeamSite 6.7.1 authentication via LDAP v3

I am trying to authenticate using an OpenLDAP 2.3 server. I can successfully add and authenticate users against my development LDAP server, which is under my control. However, on the client's LDAP server, I can search and browse the directory, but I cannot add users, nor authenticate users which I have manually created.

The apparent problem is that the client's LDAP server does not permit binding with the LDAPv2 protocol, rather requires LDAPv3. The LDAP bindResponse message I receive is "errorMessage: historical protocol version requested, use LDAPv3 instead".

Is there a way to force TeamSite 6.7.1 SP1 to authenticate using LDAPv3?
