Hello!
Heads-up on one important issue that was recently found by one of the early adopters for WEM 8.1 when upgrading their system: if, at the time of the upgrade, you already have a content type with the following “display names”:
<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>If you currently own the Rich Media Services module: “Video”, “Podcast” or “Rich Internet Application”
<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>And for all systems: “Query” or “Page Feature”
Then the upgrade process will fail in a bad way, hard to recover and in most cases requiring a restore from backup operation. The problem is easy to workaround by changing the display name for those content types before the upgrade. We will be updating the WEM 8.1 release notes and the WEM 8.1 “prerequisites check” piece of code very shortly so that you can’t accidentally end up in this situation, but in the meantime it’s something that is “good to know”.
We apologize for this inconvenience that happened despite testing the release on multiple sets of real life “customer data”…
Let me know if you need further information on this issue.
Best regards
Bertrand
