Hi,

I am planing to write custom renderer to existing widget, as Attribute help text is not working.

The issue here with Help Text is - if Help Text has html tags in it then thos tags are ignored.

String helpText = StringUtil.htmlEscape(wr.getHelpText());

Lets say i want to write custom renderer for Text Widget, then i know key of Text Widget is "vcm-widget-text",

so i can configure new(custom) JSP in themes.xml as below

<c:template key="vcm-widget-text" path="/customwar/common/widget/customText.jsp"/>.

This is working as expected. I think this is not good approach.

Please suggest me an approach for extending widget renderer.

XML format allows you to define this override at the CTD/Attribute level. You should use?this only for the attributes that you are interested in.

In your custom themes renderer xml, use something like below:

<core:template key="vcm-widget-listselect:ContentInstance:aci-sample:address" path="/aci-ui-sample/theme/corporate/template/widget/aci-dataselect-renderer.jsp"/>

The above entry causes VCM to use this renderer JSP for dataselect widget only for content type called "aci-sample" for attribute: address. The rest of the content types and attributes will continue to use the default data select renderer.

You have basically written the solution by yourself...
Start with your custom jsp as a copy/paste of the jsp of widget. In it just insert a line of java code after the inclusion of header.jspf in which you modify the java variable helpText which should have been assigned in header jspf itself...

For Text Field, Text Field CCE and OTM Text Field widgets thekey is same “vcm-widget-text”

If you requirement is specific CTD attribute then you can configureyour custom render JSP to specific attribute like below in the key.

<core:template key="vcm-widget-text:ContentInstance:CTD-XML-NAME:ATTRIBUTE-XML-NAME"path="/gfext-vcm-ui/theme/corporate/template/widget/motorola/fileType_textfield.jsp"/>

Example - key="vcm-widget-text:ContentInstance:Article:Article-name”

Here is the OOTB configuration details for all TextField widgets

<propertyname="widgetClass"value="com.vignette.ui.vcm.widget.VUITextWidget"/>

<propertyname="type" value="1"/>

</bean>

<property name="template"value="vcm-widget-text"/>

Ramesh,

You will find all OOTB widget keys in configuration files, theseconfiguration files exist in vcm-ui-config.jar file.

Jar file Location - \Content\8_0\deployedApps\VgnContentSvcs.ear\APP-INF\lib\vgn.

See the below XML files inside the jar file, you will understandeasily. Let me know your need any further details..

default-ui-widget-maps.xml

default-ui-widget-renderers.xml

default-ui-themes.xml
