currently I'm using the CustomObject.shtml to view the document and its properties, in which I've to click the checkbox to display its properties, is there any template to view the details of a document object by default displaying all the attributes of it

Please could you confirm is this for Collab 7.3 or later? This can be a little tricky because the metadata display is now done with <DIV> tags. What I would say is, if you look in common_metadataSection.shtml, around line 272 or so, that reads :Boolean propertiesChecked = prefs.isVisible(area)

If you hard code this to 'true', it should display the metadata. However, this will override the checkbox (so if you uncheck it, the section will still display). I don't know of any way to default the box to "checked"

we are using Collab Version 7.1.0.365. I tried hard coding Boolean propertiesChecked = true, but it doesn't helps. Is there any other way?

An easy way to force the properties to show would be to changethe DIV’s id in displayCustomAttributesSection.shtml:

BEFORE:

<divclass="<ISPECT>showText(sStyle_metadataBody)</ISPECT>"id="propertiesArea" <ISPECT>if (!displayProperties) <ISPECT>showText("style='display:none'")</ISPECT></ISPECT>>

AFTER:

<divclass="<ISPECT>showText(sStyle_metadataBody)</ISPECT>"id="propertiesArea2" <ISPECT>if (!displayProperties) <ISPECT>showText("style='display:none'")</ISPECT></ISPECT>>

NOTE: Making this change will prevent the checkbox from working.

Hi,

Here is another solution which will preserve the functionality of the check box, but default it to the 'checked' position.

1. Make a backup of the file named 'Common.js' located here:

? ? $CollabInstall\WWW\script\Common.js

2. Now, open that file in an editor and find the function 'getPref'

3. Add the following ELSE condition to the outer most IF statement:

? ? ? if (prefSet == "visibility" && key == "propertiesArea") {

? ? ? ? ? return true;

? ? ? }

? ?}

4. So, the entire function will end up looking like this:

5. Open a new browser session and navigate to a page which has custom Properties. ?You should now see all the properties by default and you can still use the check box to hide them if you wish.

Thanks Curtis, I tried that one and it doesn't help. Actually it was hidden on load and the check box became inactive. But I got some idea with this.

Sorry, I didn't see that you were on an older version. But its the same thing. The new version just pulls that code out of the isVisible as follows:

function isVisible(pageSection)
{
return getPref('visibility', pageSection);
}

Thus, you can still use the solution I've sent by adding an ELSE to the outermost IF of your isVisible function. Basically what you want is for this function to return TRUE if the user has not yet set any preference in the cookie. Returning TRUE here means that the pageSection will be visible by default.
