How to programmatically create an RMM image in 8.1?

Hi guys,

what are the mechanics of programmatically creating an CI of RMM-type "Image" 8.1?

We know how to create a static file and set it's binary content programmatically. We also know how to link a static file to a CI whose CTD uses a "Content Select" to select imges.

But for the new "image" CTD, we see a (or two if there's a thumbnail) static file being created, but we don't understand how this file has to be programmatically related to the "Image" instance. How is the integrity (you can't delete the static file instance only the image) being maintained? How the binary data being set?

Is there some demo code to create an Image and set it's binary content? Again: i'm talking about the RMM-Image, not creating a static file with a jpg in it.

Hi Markus, I think there’s a utility class in the API for doing this (which we use when “promoting” static files are WMM images from the UI via the “convert” grid action). Let me check with the dev team

WMM Images are like any other CTDS, so you should be able to follow the regular programmatic approach of associating a static file for the SOURCEPATH attribute of an Image and then create an Image CI. There are no other specifics required. Once an Image is created, the integrity of not allowing specific actions on a static file referred by a WMM item are done internally with specific checks whenever an action is performed. There are no specifics required while creating an item.

Hi Bertrand,

that worked out perfectly.

Even reference counting seems to work perfectly: with multiple relators and rmm images referencing the same static file, the static file could be/was only deleted after the last referencing CI was gone! Nice!
