Problem occurs with IE8/IE7 and XP

When user clicks on "View as Web folder",

System asking for credentials again and then when hitting cancel you can

proceed.

Any Fix for this....

We had this problem and made the following changes to showWeb FolderLink.shtml file

from: <a style="behavior:url('#default#AnchorClick')" folder="<ISPECT>showWebDAVURI()</ISPECT>/"

to <a style="behavior:url('#default#AnchorClick')" folder="<ISPECT>showWebDAVURI()</ISPECT>#/"

This fixed the "hitting cancel" issue. You still have to login with IE 8, but it accepts the credentials and you can continue.

This issue will resolve in Win XP / IE 8. But we are using Collab 7.3 in Win 7 environment also.

After fixing this issue, In Win 7, the "view as webfolder" feature will not work.

Before fixing, this feature was working well in Win 7 environment, It fails only in Win XP / IE 8 environment.

Hi Umesh,

Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306). Even though Windows 7 is not listed in the KB article, It's applicable for Windows 7 as well as Vista and XP.

I applied the e-fix to my Windows 7 PRO work station and was able to use edit-in-place (and edit a document) and View as Web folder without any issues. (Collab 7.3/IE 8.0/Windows 7 PRO)

Please could you apply this e-fix on your effected Windows 7 PRO PC's and let us know if this fixes the issue,

Steps taken to resolve: (VOLSS ref:247978)

Instructions
To install this download:

1. Download the file by clicking the Download button (above) and saving the
file to your hard disk.

2. To start the Setup program, double-click the Webfldrs-KB907306-ENU.exe
program file on your hard disk. The default installation location is \Program
Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders.

3. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

Note: This software update might require a system restart.

4. Make sure that basic auth level is set to 2

Windows 7 will fail to connect to the server using Basic authentication
which is insecure over the network. Vista/XP requires SSL connection to be used
with Basic. However you can connect to the Web folder if you set the following
registry key on the client machine to 2.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters\BasicAuthLevel

The BasicAuthLevel can be set to the following values:
    0 - Basic authentication disabled
        1 - Basic authentication enabled for SSL shares only (Default)
    2 or greater - Basic authentication enabled for SSL shares and for
non-SSL shares (I set this to 2). Set this value to 2.

In addition you'll need to make sure that your browser security settings for IE
8 are changed as well for the Active X controls

(Marking Office ActiveX Controls Used by Collaboration as Trusted)

I have made the following changes to showWeb FolderLink.shtml file

FYI

We are facing this issue from long time, more than a month, still we didn't get any solution for this. (ticket# 248430). If it works in Win 7, but it fails in Win XP or viceversa.

Please help us on this.

What is the exact error you're seeing from your Windows 7/IE 8.0 workstation when you select
'view as web folders'

Are you seeing 'Windows can't create a shortcut here, Do you want the shortcut to be placed on
the desktop error' followed by 'Internet Explorer could not open http://yourvignette.com/dav/1.25.5#/ Would you like to see its default view instead?

Hi,

I was recieving the same issue but on 8.0.2.

Couldn't use 'edit in place' or open web folders in win7/ie8.

Installed the windows update and made the registry change and can now open in web folders but am still unable to use 'edit in place' functionality.

"Edit in place" feature works fine in both Windows 7 and in Windows XP.

Issue is only with the "View as web folder" and in Windows 7 .
