MediaBin Task Export and Import

Hi All,

We have a problem in exporting and importing the tasks.

MediaBin Version:

4.6.1 Build 7

Problem:

We have two MB servers DEV and PROD.
In DEV server we create some tasks and test it. Once it's approved we will export the task and import it on the PROD server.

Few Tasks are getting imported to the PROD server. Some tasks with "Metadata Adder" transformer with Expiration Date checked (Expiration date as Metadata)are not getting imported in to the PROD server.

Error Details:

Error importing task
Reason: Unable to import the task file. Check log for details (0X8004043d)

Error Importing Task: G:\Program Files\MediaBin Server\System Tasks\tsk1068.tmp Unknown metadata id passed to metadata adder: {99C15130-795E-4A6E-9DAB-9A59806D220C}.

The problem seems to be with metadata, how do i export the metadata of a task also.

Please help me how to solve this proble.

That is because the GUID for the Expiration Date metadata doesn't match.

Export the Expiration Date metadata and get the GUID and change it in the task exported from DEV. Then import the task to PROD and it should work.

You have to do the same for any other metadata field that you are using.

You can export metadata similar to how you exported task in MB. If you open the exported metadata field in a text editor you will be able to get the GUID.

I exported all the custom metadata from the Development. There are 13 items in it.

When i import the same to Production server it's only showing 12 items.

The expiration date metadata is missing out.

Due to this I am not able to import the task.

But the XML format is showing the 13 items.

Please find the DEV and PROD metadata xml files as attachment.

That makes sense. So you never created the expiration date metadata in PROD. So export the one from DEV and import it in to PROD.

I exported it from development to prod. still i don't see that in the list.

Not finding any error also

You should probably open a support case. If all you are doing is importing the metadata file I am not sure why you are not able to see it on that list and there are no errors.

Among the all metadata’s in the metadata group ,
Only one (Exp date) is a custom metadata ( missing) ,
rest all Built in Metadata’s

I guesses , you may forgot to export and import the metadata.
You may exported the metadata group from DEV and try to
Import to PRD , of course the PRD could not find the
custom metadata (srinivas explained)

Resolution
1.Delete the imported metadata group frist
2.Export the missing metadata from DEV and import to the PRD
3.Then import the metadata group to PRD
(In this case you alreday imported the metadata , so delete the imported
metadata group and import again)

Hi Vin,

Exp date is custom metadata, I follwled the following steps.

On Dev server:

1.Exported the custom metadata
2.Exported the Metadata group
3.Exported the tasks.

On Prod:
1.Imported the custom metadata
2.Imported the Metadata group
3.Imported the tasks.

Still it's not working. Hence i logged a call with support.
Waiting for response.

Post the screen shot of metadata group for PROD /DEV.
I imported your metadatagroup and custom metadata in my Dev Box and it is working

Hi,
Finally I am able to import and export the stuff.

I deleted everything and created from the scratch on Production box.

It got imported. Thnaks Vin and Srinivas for the help.
