ASP.NET Menu Control fail to render the table layout

We recently upgraded to VAP 8.1 from VAP7.2.2. Looks like after the upgrade

webconnector2.14 fails to render the ASP.NET Menu Control table layout.

It tries to render everthing as a div tag overwriting the table layout.

Is this a known issue ? And is there any resolution or workaround for same ?

This has broken the portlet functionality in production, thus we are looking for a quick workaround with same

It sounds the content resource uses  ASP.Net Menua Control table laylout.
what do you get with web 2? Please attach a screen shot and html page source reflecting the issue.
