Multiple in-context-edit in 8.1 is breaking

 Hi,

We have Dynamic site pages where we are rendering right side column page using AJAX call. this ajax call internally calls other template where we have three components in it. in the AJAX template we have in-context-edit is enabled.

As per this in preview we will be having two ICE menus, one is for main page and other is for AJAX page. This working as expected in VCM 7.5, After upgrading to VCM 8.1 this is failing, the main page in-context-edit is working, i am seeing main page Tools menu, but the AJAX page tools menu is breaking, when i add in-context-edit in the AJAX JSP, its adding JSON string at the end of the Page. The HTML of the page is breaking, if i remove the in-context-edit from the AJAX page the page is rendering properly.

When i hit the AJAX template Page separately the Tools menu is coming fine. 

Multiple Tools menus (multiple in-context-edit) is supported in 8.1? if so how  we can reslove this?

 

Any thoughts?

 Hi Gangi,

Having templates within templates is not a use case we considered when designing the 8.1 ICE menus.

The way it works is that when you load a page, there is a javascript handler that parses the DOM and attaches menus to all the divs that are identified as regions or components. This happens when the main template is finished loading. I suspect the region parsing code is not executing properly when you load the inner template via AJAX.
