Hi

Pls let me know any good document which states good design practices for DCTs and TPLs.

I have existing website for which we are migrating to teamsite, I will like to know how to create DCTs and TPLs in the most effecient manner. The sad part of our implemenation is that we are creating lot many templates... for around 333 html pages we have 82 templates...

How to design it in the most optimal manner...

I guess this is almost similar to your other post. There are no thumb rules while designing DCTs and TPLs. the best documents we have are forms publisher apart from it examples being provided by Interwoven and finally Devnet to help you out or give suggestions. There are few posts recently on including or refering dcts & tpls as inline command please refer them that would be helpful.

I guess no one could give you an answer just like that without knowing your environment, organisation and site structure at the least. Best bet for you could be to refer posts here for your knowledge purpose or otherwise hire some experienced consultant who could really make your task and your organisation task much easier moving forward.

That too many templates I guess. May be your site has content in a haphazard manner. I too had a project of similar nature. By implementing CMS, we targeted to make the site more consistent . Also the HTML team helped us to a great extent in identifying what are minimum items required to come up with the whole site.

May be you can create tpl that can render pages on the context based (branch/workarea or may be, based on a value selected in DCR). This could help you cut down the number of templates required.

But, decessions like above will depond on your envorinment and functional/business needs.

Priyanka, there are lot many ways this can be done and made sure things are optimised.. Here is a step by step approach you might be able to follow based on your Business Knowledge and content model -

1. Analyse the content
2. Divide the content
3. Organise the content
4. try giving your content a relational structure
5. Thoroughly work on Teamsite capabilities and possibilities with Teamsite and Teamsite Templating
6. Integrate both your analysis to form a Content Structure for your Teamsite implementation..

You can do other things based on your particular scenario but the above are the basics..
