I have DCTs and I know since I am migrating from existing website to Teamsite, I know the final generated HTML.

Please let me whats best effective to write TPLs in such scenarios.

I have source code of each HTML which are already defined in my current website : AOL portal.

Refer to the examples present in any TS server at iw-home/examples location that would be the good start and also since you already have HTML code refer to http://your-server/iw/help/tst/pt page which has all the PT tags we can use, you could use them to substitute your required fields present in HTML.

Apart from these if you have any issue with the PTs post your queries here then anyone here would be more than happy to help you in sorting your issue.

Regarding Best practices its good if you can do some search here in Devnet there should be surely some guided posts for PT (http://devnet.interwoven.com/forums_vb/showthread.php?t=25031&forumid=13&highlight=practices)

Start writing the TPLs, u'll come to know with time. I guess that's the best approach.

You can use the current HTML layouts (including the html codes) in a PT.

Create a PT , refer to link provided by "Curious_maverick" for help, and embed the structural html code in the PT and insert the corresponding content captured in DCR.

Antharix, as per your thoughts on this, you have told that I can use the existing already HTML code and insert the corresponding content captured in DCR.

Please let me know which editor to use so that it does not give error/warning for and other teamsite commands on the tpl.

There is no tool to make sure, you write your TPls right. It just comes with practice.. Till that time, write your tpls and use iwpt_compile -ocode option to debug..

Any XML editor would be a good choice for writing tpls
