'nextDeployment' Vs 'dnrDeploymentJob'

Hello Everyone,

My requirement is such that i want to initiate another deployment script on the same server once the previous one has completed. Currently i have configured it using 'dnrDeploymentJob'. But is it also possible using 'nextDeployment' instead of 'dnrDeploymentJob'. Also is it feasible to use 'nextDeployment' for initiating next deployment script on the same server ??

Any thoughts on that ?

Although I've never used it - I believe nextDeployment is for running a deployment on a BaseServer that was the target of the current deployment - I don't think it works for running a deployment on the same server.

dnrDeploymentJob is probably a reasonable solution.

Are you sure about that - the documentation doesn't say it explicitly, but rather implicitly indicates:[indent]deployment - enter the name of the deployment that will execute on the [color=red]target base server upon completion of this current deployment. The deployment name will be the same as the deployment configuration file. For example, if the name of the deployment configuration to be invoked is tier2_deploy.xml, then the value would be:
deployment="tier2_deploy"
That specified deployment configuration must be present on the associated target base server for that server to run the next-tier deployment. [/color][/indent]

yup..you can run next deployment on same machine. what you have to do is put the base server name in "nodeRef useNode="" element of next deployment.
