sharing data between dpm portlets

Hi,

We are developing a page with multiple DPM (content publisher portlets). Each of these portlets fetch data from database using database queries. There is a possibility to reuse data obtained by portlet A within another portlet B. I tried to save the objects in HttpServletRequest in portlet A and tried to get it from the request in portlet B but that doesnt work . Is there any other solution to share data between DPM portlets. Ofcourse I could use session but that doesn't seem like the best approach

You have to follow below attribute naming convention.

//At source portlet

request.setAttribute("com.vignette.portal.attribute.portlet.myPortletName.myAttributeName", "xyz");

//At destination portlet

request.getAttribute("com.vignette.portal.attribute.portlet.myPortletName.myAttributeName");

I had set the request attributes by following the naming convention you suggested but it is not working. Any idea what might be wrong?

As I said these are DPM portlets i.e , Content publisher portlets. I have two portlets A and B. Portlet A has a view jsp, a.jsp and Portlet B has a JSP, b.jsp. I set the attribute in a.jsp and trying to retrieve in b.jsp

You cannot rely on any relative execution order among portlets;the portal is free to pick any order, and the algorithm it uses may change fromrelease to release (or request to request, if the implementer is feelingornery). If you need to communicate information among portlets, you should consideremploying the event mechanism put forth in JSR 286.

And my lack of wizardry is immediately revealed: the event stuffwill only work with JSR 286 portlets, which the DPM portlets most definitelyare not (they are PortalBean portlets).
