eDOCS DM Extended File Information tool added

I have created a DLL that adds a new right click menu item to a document. The new menu will show the full path and file size of all versions and attachments. This is similar to the way DOCS Open File Information displayed the information.

Tim, I think this is a great idea and one that I am sure many people would like back. I put it on my computer but nothing happens when I access it. I do have the right click option in my menu but when I click on Extended File Information, nothing happens. Am I missing a step? I added the file to DM Extensions, ran the reg and bat files. I am on a Windows 7 machine with Office 2010 and DM 5.3 Patch 3, 32 bit OS.

Hi Sherri,

My testing was all done on XP but I can do some testing with Windows 7 too. My first guess is that the window is out of focus. That was happening to me on XP until I made a code change. Maybe my code change isn't working for Windows 7. When you click on the Extended File Information, please check to see if the window opened behind DM Extensions. Let me know what you find and I'll do some testing on Windows 7.

No there is no file window open in the background.

Very odd. I just tested it on Windows 7 (64bit) with DM 5.3 P3 and Office 2010 (32bit) and it works great. What you should see is a window that looks a lot like the regular File Information but with an added column for the full path. Are the other right click options working? I'm going ot post a new build of the DLL right now. Maybe something went wrong when I built it the first time.

I have uploaded a new build of the Extended File Information DLL. The new build will disable the menu if more than one document is selected. No other new changes have been added at this time.

Unfortunately, the new build didn't work for me either. I reran the .BAT and .REG files as well. Nothing happens when I select Extended File Information on the right click menu. Let me know if you want to look at my machine.

We fixed it. The problem was that the InsertAt registry entry was set to Y and her computer had a lot of other addins for DM. So we set it to A and it worked fine. We found that there were no addins with C as the InsertAt value so we used C and all is working fine now.
