Hello friends,

I have a DCR (from a certain datatype). I want to pick up a particular fraction of the XML and then want to append it to another DCR (which is of another datatype).

Any idea on how this can be achieved?

Hi Mav,

Would this change be a part of the workflow or a script in particular which will be called on onSave event of the DCR ?
Do you need help in implementing it from the code perspective(xml parsing and modifying code)?
Actually your requirement is not clear whether you are looking for inputs/direction for implementation or the help in code for xml parsing.
Please elaborate your requirement.

Thanks for the reply. Well my requirement is something like below;

I've a header template where I can enter default header image. I've got a navigation template as well where user can choose an image that will be displayed in place of the default header image depending on the particular sub section the user is in the navigation. If the user doesn't select an image, by default the the image of the parent section will be shown.

Now I want to take these image valuse from the navaigation template to the header template, where finally I hope to put some logic in the PT that will display a particular image.

Can you suggest some other idea as well?

Let me put whatever you have said in a different way. Please verify the following if i have understood it the way you want it to be.

There are 2 templates - header and navigation - both having an image field.
Image chosen in the navigation can overwrite that chosen in the header template depending upon certain conditions.
Now you want a logic to take the image from one template to be put in other template while displaying it.
Please correct me wherever I am wrong.

You got it all right!

Will there be a parent template in which you will be including both header and navigation or one template which is included in the other. for eg - header included inside the navigation.
If yes then you can probably include one tpl inside the other and pull the desired values of image field using iw_value.
Above is only 1 possible solution for the scenario you have provided; there could be other solutions as well.

Header.asp and navigation.asp are generated and these are finally getting included as SSI in content presentation template.
