Problems with second level bullets

Hi there,

It is me again, the newbie to IW templates.....

I am sure this is something silly that I have done, but I am trying to display two levels of bullets. Maybe I have just been looking at it too long. ;-(

The data capture works perfectly and "collects" the information as it should.

I am including two sets of code. With the first method I get an error message on a mismatched tag concerning the tag:

my $count = 0;

[/html]

The second set of code does not generate an error, displays the first level bullets, but fails to display the second level bullets:

my $count = 0;

iteration="itcount3">

[/html]

Sorry, sent one incorrect section of code, and as I was correcting it, tried again, and I got it to work!!! ;-)

Looking at the 1st on only, you have 2 iw_iterate statements and only 1 close statement. That is why it cannot parse the file.

You also define $count but do not use it, do you really need it ?

Finally, if it did generate a page, I suspect the HTML will be screwed up.

You do not list a style for the 2nd level list but you should be able to change the default. I always prefer to include a style in the TPL, but that is a design decision.

I was thinking that I would either define the bullet style either in the actual ul tag for each level, or do that with my style sheet and place a

around the bullets.

I am guessing that is what you mean by including the style in the tpl. I wouldn't know where else to place it! ;-)

Hey!! I really wanted to use this method, because I wanted to check to see if there was anything in that field, before I even thought about a second level of bullets....

So, I copied and pasted your code in, and I get nothing, no header, no bullets. When I look at the source, I see this:

Something is going on with the displaying of the title....it will NOT work, but I cannot see ANYTHING wrong with the method you presented. I had already tried your suggestion, but just cannot get it to display correctly (nothing displays when using this:

[/html]

The site is not available to the public yet, or I would send you a link.

I'll come back to this later, as I feel this would be the best way to handle it, but wondered if you saw something I am missing...

I see the another problem in your 1st example (which is what I based my changes off), the 1st iteration uses instance.new_list_items instead of dcr.rfps_vendor_single.new_list_title

So I expect instance is undefined and the complete loop is being bypassed.

You have to make sure that the address information you're using (dcr.rfps_vendor_single.new_list_title.title) is correct for your DCT / DCR structure.

Not only do you need to know the structure of your DCT but it also makes a difference if you're using "iwov" or "xml" style DCTs.

I suggest you play around a bit with that one line - once you get that one figured out the rest should be relatively easy to adjust.
