VCM and portal integration

I am not able to successfully integrate the VCM site with portal. Portal and VCM are working fine, there are other sites that are running and fully integrated.

Here are the steps I followed:

1. Created a VCM site by name TestMA with URL TestMA

2. In the site settings I selected DPM and added the content type Channel Index

3. I created couple of content items from Content Type Channel Index and assigned to Home channel

4. I created a site by name TestMA in portal

5. Created page Home and navigation item and linked them together

6. I create a content publisher portlet and added to home page with the region name ChannelIndexes. Portlet has override jsp which brings all the content items assigned to vcm home channel.

7. I enabled portal site for all registered users

8. I create a presentation template in VCM and selected portal page and assigned to portal menu item and added region ChannelIndexes

9. I assigned this presentation template to VCM home channel

10. when I access the portal site as end user, I don't see any content item being rendered. My override jsp is working fine on other site which has same configuraiton. Is there any other step which may be required for VCM integration with portal.Am I missing any step

Mohammed,

If you are using Content Publisher portlets, you will also need to view the page in the portal and initialize the regions. In v8, click on Page Template to initialize the regions.

If you've already done that, then you will want to check your logs for errors in the jsps.

I defined the regions, I am not even getting the preview tool pallete.

Forget the regions and types for now as they have nothing to do with getting a new site activated for Portal, there are 5 things that have to be in place to have an active page in Preview (with the tools palette available):

1. The Portal page must have at least one Content Publisher Porlet available on that page.

2. The Portal Site must use the Content Publisher Grid (or a custom grid that has the needed tags defined). Optionally, you can set an override grid at the Navigation Menu Item that uses the Content Publisher Grid (or a custom grid with the correct tags defined).

3. You must have an "active" Channel defined

4. You must have a Presentation Template that links the active Channel with the Portal menu item (which in turn is linked to a page).

5. The Site itself must be configured to use a particular Preview Instance. You can see this in the old V7 console or you can click on Edit Site in the V8 Workspaces.

Additionally there are some parameters that have to be configured in the Application Server: working directory parameter, install directory parameter, and Preview Instance parameter.

It sounds like you may not be using the proper grid to render the DPM content if you are not seeing a DPM floatie at all on the page. Refer to Ed's post regarding using the DPM grid.

Also, you may want to verify your dpm configuration with /vgn-ext-templating/vgnTest.jsp.
