As you undoubtedly know, 5.5 is EOL for years. You have to contact Support, only IWOV can provide a reliable answer

Hopefully I can help answer your questions. In order to run newer versions Sun Solaris, you will need to upgrade your TeamSite server as well. Here is the compatibility matrix for TeamSite 5.5.2: http://support.interwoven.com/resources/products/compatibility/teamsite5.asp

The Solaris versions that you are interested in running are compatible with later versions of TeamSite. Here is a link to compatibility information for 6.5 and 6.7.1: http://support.interwoven.com/resources/products/compatibility/teamsite.asp

Interwoven strongly recommends upgrading your TeamSite server both to stay within support and being on a support product, but also to ensure that you are benefitting from OS updates in security and functionality with newer releases. If you are unable to upgrade your TeamSite software, then I would not recommend upgrading your OS. I think you may run into unexpected performance issues, and that's not something you want with an EOL version.

We really are not looking for a Teamsite Upgrade as we are looking to retire this box. We still need to get this onto a newer hardware (solaris 9 or 10) and keep it operational for regulatory use with very less load and very less users actually using it. Would version 5.5.2 work at all on Sun OS 10?

The "official" answer that you are always going to get is that it is not supported. There is no way that IWOV could have tested that scenario. I know on Windows the installers do not run if there is O/S mismatch. I am not sure about Solaris. Given its EOL I am sure support is not going to help you out. I do not see a reason why you can not try and run the installer.

TeamSite on Solaris requires kernel modifications for support of the Interwoven virtual file system. 5.5.2 never contained the modifications required for it to be able to run on Solaris 10 - so the chances of it working (even "non supported") are extremely thin.

If you care about using TeamSite at all - you should give up the idea of continuing to use 5.5.2 and bite the bullet and upgrade - and if you're going to upgrade, you should probably shoot for the latest version (currently 671 SP1 + Patch 1 - though hopefully soon to be 672)

If you're going to do the upgrade (on a new server) - you should spend a bunch of time going over the documents / KB articles that have been mentioned in this forum (fortunately, there are less than a dozen threads in this forum right now - so going through all of them shouldn't be too big a chore) - and perhaps hire on a consultant (either through Interwoven or through some other means) who has done upgrades to assist you in both the planning and actual implementation of the upgrade.

Coming from 5.5.2 I would plan to be working on the upgrade for at least a month and quite possibly two since a lot has changed since 5.5.2 and it will take time to port / upgrade all customizations.

Anything is possible. In your case however you (your user) probably do not have proper impersonation permissions.

We can not tell more on the scant data you've provided. What is your TS Version/SP Level? Platform? There must
be an error code indicated at the end of your Error message, what is it? 4,5,7, Something else?

And by the way, what does the thread you've chosen to attach your request to have to do to your problem?
