Updating Ephox Inline link widget after applying cumulative fix

We have applied the below cumulative patch on top of our Vignette V8 installation.

Vignette® Content Version 8.0 Cumulative Patch RELEASE: 8.0 20120105

We already have the Ephox Inline link widget installed in our VCM installation. Now do we have to recompile the Ephox Inline link widget source code with the new jars (vgn-appsvcs-cma.jar, vui jars etc) from the patched V8 installation and do a configp deployment of the widget jars (appsvcs-extensions.jar etc) and a redeploy of the appsvcs-extensions.ear by following the procedure outlined in the workspace extensions installation document.

(or)

Is it just sufficent to update the vignette jars in the appsvcs-extensions.ear that we already have and just redeploy the appsvcs-extensions.ear without any recompile of the code and configp of the widget jars.

You have to download latest appsvcs extension from

https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/cs.dll/open/18050905

and follow instructions in readme bundled in the package.

The version of the extension we have is also the V8 version though its not the latest version of the extension. I see there were a few bug fixes in the latest version of the extension. We will evaluate whether we should upgrade to the latest version of the extension and the effort involved etc.

But normally when we install a patch or service pack for VCM we recompile all our custom application code using the new set of vignette jars (vgn-appsvcs-cda, vgn-appsvcs-cma.jar etc) and update the jars within our custom war/ear files. In this context, (if we do not want to upgrade to the new version of the extension) should we also recompile the existing Ephox Inline link widget code using the new vignette jars from the patch/cumulative fix.

This is not a matter of philosophy, it's a matter that if you have an old version of the appsvcs extensions it might not work on latest SP.
Rebuilding the extension packages (including full jsp recompilation) is a best practice anyway that should be always followed.
