RSS Feed generation from tpl's

I need some inputs on how i can generate an RSS Feed from presentation templates(tpl's) in Teamsite 6.5.I am writing down an tpl having RSS tags & retrieving field items as values for those tags.
I need to deploy the rss feeds to a webserver which would then parse the feeds by means of XSLT portlet.The issue is that the XSLT portlet is not able to read all the xml tags.Tags like tag under the tag is not being read .Also if there's an image in the description tag,although it shows up in the xml it isn't being rendered by the xslt portlet.
