Anyone tinkering with MP4 and SQL 2008?

We are deploying a new internal app that has been designed to take advantage of some SQL 2008 features. I'd prefer not to throw up a VM to host an old SQL version just for MP4. Anyone have MP setup under 2005/2008 and did it require any non-standard configurations to get it going? Config manager just pukes (:connection refused) on the connect when adding a new library. Thanks.

There are limitations in the MP 4.1 code and JDBC driver that prevent it from working with SQLServer 2005. Have you considered upgrading to MP 5.0?
