New Orphan File Finder utility added

I have uploaded a new utility to find orphan files and zero byte files.

Orphan File Finder Version 1.0.0 is for Microsoft SQL Server only and allows an administrator to find:

Document Profile Components where the physical file is missing.
Extra files that exist in the document server path and are not tracked by eDOCS DM.
Zero Byte Files (ZBFs) that exist in the document server path whether tracked or not tracked by eDOCS DM.

The user can create stub files for missing and zero byte files. Extra files can be copied to a new directory and/or deleted.

I have uploaded version 1.9.2 with many new features asked for by users of the utility. The utility now works with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. Please read the documentation for a list of new features and how to use them.

Again - another great tool.

What would be really great if the size of the document could be written back to eDOCS, currently that database field is just empty. But writting it back would be absolutely wonderful for reporting etc.

Sten - our company, EIM, has a 'File Checker' utility that does DM file checks and populates the file size column in the Components table. It also automatically sends email alerts to designated recipients. http://www.eimintl.com/administration-modules.html.

Hi. I am trying to run the tool on a 5.3.1 library (SQL) where we have found appx 200 ZBF. But after the tool has completed the processing the Zero Byte Files is empty. The Directory Count tab however indicates ZBF, but when exporting the logs it only shows 34 of the ZBF (_ZeroByteFiles.csv). The tool is installed with and logged on by the dmservice account user (from a DM Server), meaning it`s a docs_supervisor account and administrator on the server as required. Should not the Zero Byte Files tab be populated after the process is done? Must I do something additional in order to populate the Zero Byte Files tab?

Hi again. I used an older version (1.5.0.0) instead of 1.9.4.0, and then it gave me the right result on the ZBF
